To Jon Brooks,

You seem to think that everything can be resolved by using nuclear weapons. You think it’s going to be like a Hollywood movie showing the Israeli Air Force bomber flying back home while a mushroom cloud slowly starts to dissipate many miles behind the plane, with some dramatic music playing, and a close up of the pilot’s face thinking to himself what a successful mission…the “threat was destroyed”. And then a fade out of the scene, THE END.

Well this isn’t Hollywood and no it’s not going to be that simple. I remember reading somewhere that there will be no more Hiroshimas and Nagasakis. In other words, unlike the nuclear bombing of those 2 Japanese cities where the US got off with impunity, this will not happen again should any nation decide to use such force. Consequences will follow.

So pray that Israel doesn’t attack Iran, and hope that the Israelis think over that “Samson doctrine” when they see that Iran is capable of an effective counterattack.

Now that the statement is in context in response to a ..what if you are attacked by..style of question, it looks like their gamers are pretty sure of 11 days. However on about day 8 or 9 (or mayhaps sooner) comes the Samson Doctrine and Iran and greater persia will be but distant memories for about 50 more generations. The legends of course will grow around the campfires of the survivors, since Israel will not go quietly into that good night.

That’s not the author’s fault, he didn’t have the MEMRI item, just wrote what he saw on TV.
The problem for your understanding is: “in” (German) can mean “in” but also “within” in English. In this case it was “within” but the translation here didn’t get that. Okay, the context would have given the clue in the translation, but the German writer wouldn’t know you translate, wouldn’t he?

Actually MEMRI says:

The German article failed to mention the context of the comments.

MEMRI says the General said “wipe Israel out of existence within 11 days”. That was my take from the German text as well.
That’s a translation problem from German into English you didn’t get. Were you using auto translation?

Not that I wouldn’t mind seeing the Israelis very very successful, but what could be gained by Salehi ‘telegraphing’ Iranian intentions
so obviously. Mayhaps they want to see what the Israelis are doing with ‘their’ new eye in the sky? Mayhaps to provoke Israel into
acting ahead of Bibis visit to Washington? Or just more psyops?
Could they really be that arrogant and stupid? Well yes and no:)
