From AlJazeera:
North Korea has warned it will hit back at the US if it is attacked as tensions grow over a possible crackdown on exports of suspected weapons parts from the North.
In a commentary on Monday, North Korea’s Rodong Sinmun newspaper, declared that North Korea was a “proud nuclear power”, and said the US should “take a correct look at whom it is dealing with”.
“It would be a grave mistake for the US to think it can remain unhurt if it ignites the fuse of war on the Korean peninsula,” the paper said.
The commentary came as the US navy continued to track a North Korean cargo ship off the coast China believed to be carrying missiles and missile parts.
The 2,000-ton freighter Kang Nam left North Korea last Wednesday and is reportedly on its way to Myanmar.
From JPost.com:
Japanese and South Korean news reports said North Korea is preparing an additional site for test-firing a long-range missile capable of striking the US.
The warning of a military strike, carried by the North’s state media, came hours after President Barack Obama declared North Korea a “grave threat” to the world, and pledged that recent UN sanctions on the communist regime will be aggressively enforced.
Also on Wednesday, Defense Minister Ehud Barak assessed that a well-orchestrated operation carried out by the US, China and Russia could prevent North Korea from achieving it’s goals.

The threat on Monday came as the US navy continues to track a North Korean cargo ship off the coast of China which US officials claim could be carrying missile parts.
The ship is believed to be on its way to Burma and has been tracked by US boats since last Wednesday.
Tensions between the west and Pyongyang have become increasingly strained since the north launched a series of missiles and carried out an underground nuclear test earlier in the year,
South Korea and the US believe another launch could be planned for July 4th, Independence Day, and could be fired in the direction of Hawaii.
