A Polish military prosecutor has shot himself in the head after cutting short a news conference in his office, officials and media reports say.

Col Mikolaj Przybyl was defending a military investigation into media leaks related to the air crash that killed the Polish president in 2010.

He asked reporters to leave so that he could take “a break”.

Upon hearing a loud thud, the reporters returned to find him on the floor with a pool of blood around his head.

Mr Przybyl, who was in his office in Poznan, western Poland, is now in hospital in stable condition. His life is not in danger, according to hospital officials.

One of the reporters present told Polish television: “We heard a loud thud and we went back into the room thinking one of the cameras had fallen over. Then we saw the prosecutor motionless on the ground in a pool of blood, his military gun beside him.”

In television pictures of the news conference, Col Przybyl is seen reading out a statement to reporters: “During my entire service as a civilian and later military prosecutor, I have never brought shame to the Republic of Poland and I will protect the honour of an officer of the Polish armed forces and prosecution. Thank you, please give me a five-minute break, I need to rest.”

He then walks out of shot and the sound of a gun being cocked can be heard followed by a loud bang.

At the news conference, Mr Przybyl had denied prosecutors in Poznan, western Poland, had eavesdropped on journalists who were investigating the crash, AFP news agency reports.

Concern
Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski has said in a statement he was “concerned” about the incident and had asked the head of the national security bureau to monitor the situation.

The plane taking then President Lech Kaczynski’s delegation to a memorial service for the victims of the 1940 Katyn massacre of Polish officers by Soviet secret police crashed in thick fog in Smolensk, western Russia, on 10 April 2010.

As well as MR Kaczynski, his wife and 94 senior officials also died when the jet tried to land.

Investigators blamed pilot error.

Hiscox believes there were 960 such disasters in 2010, 10 times more than the year before.

The profit was “a good result considering the low returns on offer in the investment markets and the large number of catastrophes the industry faced this year”, said chief executive Bronek Masojada.

The Chilen earthquake on February 27 last year had a magnitude of 8.8 – one of the biggest ever recorded. The disaster killed more than 500 people and left hundreds of thousands homeless.

Last September’s New Zealand earthquake cost insurers worldwide a combined $14bn, according to company estimates. Hiscox said it expects its losses from this month’s earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand, to be of a “similar or greater magnitude” than the costs incurred in September, when it paid out about £37m.

However, despite the fall in profits there was a glimmer of good news for Hiscox. Even though net income declined to £178.8m pounds in 2010 from £280.5m pounds a year earlier, this still beat analysts’ estimates of £156m, reported Bloomberg.

Coincidence?

Man-made?

This was the year the Earth struck back.

Earthquakes, heat waves, floods, volcanoes, super typhoons, blizzards, landslides and droughts killed at least a quarter million people in 2010 — the deadliest year in more than a generation. More people were killed worldwide by natural disasters this year than have been killed in terrorism attacks in the past 40 years combined.

“It just seemed like it was back-to-back and it came in waves,” said Craig Fugate, who heads the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency. It handled a record number of disasters in 2010.

“The term ’100-year event’ really lost its meaning this year.”

SoCal Martial Law Alerts
October 9, 2010

SoCal Martial Law Alerts (SCMLA) has been in existence for almost 2 years now and this is our 2nd MARTIAL LAW ALERT.

As with our first MARTIAL LAW ALERT, we have held back our assessment of the financial collapse currently underway until we could gather enough information. Since our focus is martial law, we always look at current events with an eye toward assessing the conditions that would be necessary for the President and/or the military to implement martial law. And, since we try to stay at least one step ahead of the game in order to warn people, such assessments must, of necessity, be speculative in nature. Nothing stated herein is guaranteed to happen. The purpose of these alerts is to get people thinking outside the mainstream-media box so that they might be better prepared to meet any eventuality (and this includes being prepared: mentally, emotionally, spiritually and physically — and being prepared physically includes being prepared financially).

THE SITUATION:

As the price of gold reaches new heights (over $1300 per ounce) and silver climbs to over $23 per ounce, the financial situation in America is dire, to say the least. Continuously rising rates of unemployment, increased government spending and the collapse of the real estate markets are all converging into one perfectly-directed/perfectly-designed collapse of, not only our economy, but the greater global economy as well. While major financial players such as Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan continue to have record profits, the middle class has disappeared from the American financial landscape. Major financial leaders such as Federal Reserve Chairman, Ben Bernanke, have openly admitted that our country’s financial system is in deep trouble and even Europe is having more banker bailouts. Meanwhile, the American media constantly hypes a possible terror attack in America and other countries in Europe.

If another major terror attack such as 9/11 occurs, trends forecaster Gerald Celente has stated that the event would bring the banking system to a complete halt, which would then result in a “bank holiday.” And Celente is not alone. For over a year, many others have warned of an upcoming bank holiday. With our economy already in free fall, it would not take much of a national and/or worldwide terror event to completely crash our (fiat) dollar-based system in a very short period of time. Upon the crash of the dollar, more bank holidays could be declared and oppressive emergency banking powers could go into effect (see: Emergency Banking Act of 1933). These include severely limiting consumer withdrawals and a recall of physical gold holdings. Taking Presidential Defense Directive #51 into account (PDD-51), even a major stock-market crash could trigger this scenario. And once PDD-51 is invoked, then martial law could be fully implemented.

Another way the collapse of the banking system could lead to martial law is through cyber attacks.

This possibility has been particularly troubling to us, since, earlier this year, CNN aired a staged (i.e. fake) “cyber terror” attack complete with fake news reports being fielded by Michael Chertoff and other Washington insiders. Their premise was that the American power grid had been taken down by hacker/terrorists via cyber attack. Since the airing of that fake news program, alternative news agencies such as Infowars and others have made the point that such an attack is impossible for the average hacker, because the power grid is on a completely separate network from the Internet. In the meantime, threats against our power grid have been highlighted in other (suspect) ways, such as the Russians who were recently found trying to break into a Georgia power plant.

While the media continues to hype the threat of cyber terror against our power grid, others have looked into the perhaps more frightening prospect of a cyber attack on our banking system, which relies heavily upon computer networks as well as the Internet. Such an attack has already occurred both in America (over the July 4th holiday in 2009), as well as abroad (in South Korea, Estonia, India, and Canada). In fact, in February 2010, the American financial services industry actually participated in a cyber attack exercise to test the readiness of the financial system, so there’s no way they can deny that they’ve actually considered the possibility of such an attack. If such an attack did occur, whole sections of the banking system would most likely go offline (as many believe happened to Bank of America earlier this year), or, worse, massive amounts of account data could be compromised, or lost altogether.

The possible result?

Imagine being unable to access your checking account, your 401K, or, even worse, having your bank balance go to zero and, in the resulting chaos, being left with no way to prove the amount that should be in your account. After all, these days, all your sensitive banking data is stored in computer databases and, in the midst of a “cyber crisis,” many (or all) recent transactions could be lost (or the banks could claim such). In such a scenario, the only real proof of funds would be whatever cash a consumer happened to have on hand.

Many analysts such as Gerald Celente and Max Kaiser have been warning people about keeping their money in banks. As America’s financial situation continues to deteriorate, a false-flag cyber attack would be a clever way to disguise the inevitable and blame the collapse on something (or someone) else. Also, with the nation’s financial data compromised and/or missing altogether, it would conveniently force a “reset” of the banking system back to zero. Amidst the chaos of people trying to function with little-to-no cash while at the same time clamoring for a solution, the government could easily roll out aration-card system much like the one Venezuela currently has, and/or a combination identification/debit card like Malaysia’s. In addition, possible food and/or water riots could also create the perfect pretense for martial law.

In conclusion: A cyber attack that took out either the banking, or the power grid system would undoubtedly cause much turmoil. A cyber attack that took out both would be devastating. Either one would pave the road to martial law.

OUR RECOMMENDATION:

If you have money in a bank, consider getting it out. (Digital dollars are not durable, nor dependable!) Keeping enough cash as needed for survival is always wise, but consider putting all other assets into precious metals and/or necessary goods in order make the transition into the next new currency (whatever that might be). If you do not already have storable food, water and defensive weaponry, now would be a good time to acquire these items. Consider liquidating all paper assets including retirement accounts, stocks, bonds and mutual funds, since, at this point, it wouldn’t take much to send the value of all these items to zero. Begin, if you have not already, to be more self-sustaining, whether through gardening, or bartering with other like-minded individuals, etc. Now is the time to introduce yourself to your neighbors before the power (and possibly other services) go out. Know who you can trust and who you can’t.

The American people are afraid, they see disaster coming. Everyone is waiting to see what city is chosen to be sacrificed. Will it be Phoenix or Sacramento or perhaps Atlanta? This is the real fear, the “not so secret” fear in the heart of every American.

By Gordon Duff

For years, America’s military has been divided, competent military professionals and patriots on one side and Christian Zionists, loyal to Israel and addicted to a propaganda “dreamworld” on the other.

Americans sat, on 9/11, with their military “asleep at the switch,” their president in a daze and Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld, perhaps out of confusion, we may never know, talking about airliners being shot down and the Pentagon being attacked by missiles. Yes, he said these things, things he couldn’t “unsay” but things the press showed once and quickly buried. Something terribly wrong happened, something years in planning, but not planned in a cave in Afghanistan. Everywhere investigators look, one thing pops up, Israel. The moment that door is opened, it is slammed shut, often with threats, often with more than threats.

We may never know the full extent of the brutality used against those who have spoken up. We know that Arab leaders can be assassinated anywhere, any time. America will remain silent and the news will always support Israel. Israel owns the news.

What about the “suicided” British scientist Dr. David Kelly, the man responsible for moving the Israeli nukes out of South Africa? Reliable sources tell us he was ready to come forward with the facts about a massive political scandal, a cover-up of lost nuclear weapons, blackmail and bribery.

Do we really believe that there are so many unlucky United States senators? Crashes of small aircraft has done more to control the US Senate than any election, control used to set the stage for a generation of wars. With AIPAC capable of buying any election, capable, willing and doing it, not an American organization at all but a lobby for a foreign government, one that likes America “not so much” as we are led to believe, is representative government in the United States dead? When someone swears an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, is it meaningless when the government itself is no longer “American?”

Control of America, or, more appropriately, control of America’s vast military, tired and worn as it is, represents the key to ruling the world. Fooling the people, buying the government and duping America’s military through infiltrating every level of critical decision making and communications is a task, not only attempted but one long since accomplished. Problem is, even with, not only control of the press, but powerful news organizations directly under foreign control like Fox News, word is getting out.

The American people are afraid, they see disaster coming. Everyone is waiting to see what city is chosen to be sacrificed. Will it be Phoenix or Sacramento or perhaps Atlanta? This is the real fear, the “not so secret” fear in the heart of every American.

When and if it happens, Americans are not so willing to believe a few goatherds in a cave 8,000 miles away planned it, not anymore.

Why do you think Senator Lieberman has demanded a “kill switch” on the internet? Why do you think “censorship czar” Cass Sunstein has asked to have accusations of Israeli complicity in 9/11 made a criminal act and openly advocated infiltration of groups pushing for an honest investigation. Who is the real “conspiracy theorist” now?

With thousands of of military and intelligence officials, retirees openly, others hiding their rage, aware of the decades of Israeli spying and the 9/11 cover-up, this divide has never been so strong. What we don’t know is how many serving today have the personal courage to speak out openly. Now the threat is nuclear weapons, not just a “shoebox dirty bomb” but full sized nukes, the weapons we have been hunting for years, claiming Saddam was prepared to use them “at 45 minutes notice,” the same nukes “sent to Syria by ambulance.” They could be anywhere and anyone could be ready to use one. There is only one possible culprit capable of doing this, however, only one country with something to gain and the willingness to act.

“We have hundreds of nuclear warheads and missiles that can reach different targets in the heart of the European continent, including beyond the borders of Rome, the Italian capital . . . our armed forces, however, are not the thirtieth strongest in the world, but rather the second or third. We have the capability to take the world down with us.” (Israeli military historian, Martin van Creveld)

Today, America may be facing the nuclear holocaust Creveld describes and there is no reason to trust that our military, intelligence and law enforcement, the dozens of agencies, bureaus and commands tasked with defending America are willing to do so if the attack comes from Israel. In fact, some leaders, even a former head of the Department of Homeland Security, could be on a list of those that might be one of the America’s greatest terrorist threats. How can perceptions differ so much? If perceptions are based on information and that information is pure propaganda, consistent, continual and skillfully presented, not only in news format but reinforced in movies, television series and anyone publicly questioning the “message “is attacked and destroyed, and they are, perceptions can be assumed to be false.

Thus, the general basis for the public’s ideas about who Israel is, what Zionism advocates and what Islam is really about will be unreliable. When you add control of universities, all academic publishing and even total disruption of free speech, the most extreme ideas can be accepted as fact. They have been.

A substantial evidentiary trail exists that places Israel’s possible involvement in 9/11 on the table, with dozens of suspects questioned and more and more of the “facts” about 9/11 now proving, as with the Kennedy assassinations, to be lies.

Real theories, not “conspiracy,” tell us that 9/11 was planned to get America to attack Iraq, part of Israel’s long term strategy for the region, leaving them, not only the only nuclear power, but an armed aggressor afloat in a sea of broken nations occupied by American troops, troops who take orders from politicians who take orders from Israel. However, after the massive Bush administration blunders in Iraq and Afghanistan and the virtual destruction of a military incapable of sustaining a decade long war, the planned Israeli attack using American troops, again, isn’t moving forward as we all know it was planned to.

This time, after America was so badly burned, pushed by the Bush security team, almost all Israeli citizens, many of them still around, running America for Obama, into two insane “Vietnams” it will take more than 3000 murders. With the “duping of America” over 9/11 coming unraveled, something horrendous is in the planning. There is an obvious next step and it has to be nuclear. Anything less would bring an outcry against Israel immediately. Only the “unthinkable” combined with a strong public relations campaign and a cover story with a “do it yourself” terrorist group, like so many of the “just add water” terrorist organizations the Mossad has organized for just such an occasion, will sell the lie, this and the press, not just in America but the other real voice of Israel, the BBC.

The stories about the mobile labs, the “yellow cake” uranium were lies, pap fed to a willing and complicit press. However, the threats are real but how does America protect herself when those tasked with that duty turn a blind eye to the biggest threat. In 1967, Israel was allowed to kill or wound 201 of 296 Americans on the USS Liberty. Surviving crewmen are still threatened by Israeli security for speaking up, as Philip Tourney and his wife will gladly tell you. Captain McGonagle, who won the Medal of Honor working to save his crew from hours of brutal attacks, cried out for justice to his dying day. The American military stood silent as it did on 9/11, as it did on that day in 1967 and as it may have done many times since.

Those among America’s military in 1967, those willing to send the planes from the carriers America and Saratoga to bomb Egypt on behalf of Israel received the thanks of a grateful nation. Too bad that nation was not the United States of America. Only when Israel informed Washington that it had failed to both sink the USS Liberty and effect a takeover of the ship, killing the entire crew, did Admiral McCain order planes headed toward Egypt to return. It had been previously believed these planes were meant to help the USS Liberty.

We have since been reliably informed by sources within the Navy that the planes were armed for ground attack. Thus, as early as 1967, America was willing to see its own troops butchered “for the good of Greater Israel.” Proof of this is incontrovertible and witnesses on both the Liberty and Saratoga have come forward.

We will never know for sure, what secrets are stolen, what weapons given, what enemies aided, what American interests betrayed. With dozens of organizations demanding 9/11 be investigated and the lowest estimate of those who no longer believe the cover story at 30 percent, not a single active duty military officer, not one member of congress nor a single member of the mainstream press has said a word about it. How can thousands of prominent Americans demand that their country begin defending itself and it be covered up? Who has that power?

America has lost at least six nuclear weapons since 1990, maybe more, not Russia or some “breakaway republic,” once part of the Soviet Union. Three were American hydrogen bombs off Somalia, no longer usable but with enough plutonium in them to build many fission weapons. Three more were part of 9 produced by Israel in South Africa back in the 80s, all supposedly sent to America for dismantling. Three of the containers were filled with concrete blocks. They had been consigned to “friends of Israel” for shipment and were stolen from an unguarded facility in Oman after having been abandoned for months. This would be a wild claim if we hadn’t interviewed those involved in the project and been made privy to a well documented and detailed history of the operation.

These “unattributable” nukes have only one purpose, to be used in a terrorist attack on the United States, a “false flag” attack, to drive America to attack Iran and Pakistan.

How many loyal Americans, FBI, Homeland Security and other agencies are searching the nation, warehouses, ports, looking for the blue 20 foot shipping containers? How many “dual citizens” are tasked with some other purpose? Are our “protectors” really “ours” or do they work for the same pack that bought our congress? Will we find out when a mushroom cloud appears over one of our cities?

Today, America is facing the biggest threat since World War 2. Nothing will be in the news, nothing will ever be in the news, not the truth anyway. When it happens, the news will be ready, like on 9/11 when it was called on to talk Arabs and box cutters, a childish conspiracy theory millions still believe. It was ready to talk weapons of mass destruction and when that turned out to be a lie, it was ready to sit silent for its complicity in war crimes. “War crimes” seems like a harsh term but the definition fits. Invading Iraq on, not a whim, but a series of lies orchestrated by a criminal conspiracy is a war crime. Less obvious to many, the takeover of Afghanistan as a drug production facility or a base for destabilizing Pakistan or an operation center for gas pipelines, whichever reason you choose, was justified by lies as serious as those used to justify Iraq.

For those who follow such things, real leaks are proving two things:

Osama bin Laden never stopped working for the Central Intelligence Agency and their “regional affiliates.”

Bin Laden was murdered to silence him after 9/11 just as Benzir Bhutto was murdered to silence her.

Real news never reaches America, news that shows terrorism, corporate banditry and the biggest drug cartel in history, tied to American allies, some Muslim but one worse than all combined, Israel. Even today, the mythology of “threatened” Israel and the rockets raining down on their cities, all imagination, is still believed by many in our military. When 9/11 came, be it radio controlled planes, missiles, controlled demolition, our military was on “stand down,” ordered to let the attacks move forward and then roll across the Middle East, an Army hijacked by Israel to help them start their long planned world conquest. Today, America basks in defeat and humiliation and Israel laughs.

We have continual debates about religion in the military. Should Christian sects be able to force troops to prayer? Is America a Christian nation, is this what the founding fathers meant? What if, lets say, these sects were not loyal to the United States but rather constituted a national threat? Is an officer belonging to a Christian Zionist church likely to pass secrets on to Israel? Will they obey orders from the Mossad above their own commanders? Will an Christian Zionist with nuclear access follow his religious calling and cause a nuclear war to bring about Armageddon?

What if their power in the military was that great, part of a systematic infiltration of the military through an extremist take-over of the chaplain’s services and eventually admissions and curriculum of the service academies themselves? What else could explain the total silence we have seen when torture, kidnapping, illegal invasions and “stand downs” to allow terrorist attacks are the norm. How many officers have violated the Geneva Convention, their oaths and the Uniform Code of Military Justice because they felt obliged to a “higher power” to exhibit extreme cruelty, cleansing the world of “infidels?”

Those in the military that feel, as Christians, they are tied to Israel, have lost their minds. Islam and Judaism are much closer than Christianity and Judaism. With the advent of the trinity, both Jews and Muslims see Christians as, not only polytheistic, worshiping 3 gods, not one, but idolaters as well. To both Jews and Muslims, these issues alone are enough to make Christianity an enemy. Islam, a religion totally based on Judaism, an Abrahamic faith, built on the foundation of the books of Moses, sees itself as a reform movement stressing moral values as outlined in the Koran and the teachings of the prophet, Mohammad (peace be on him).

To a Christian with a real education, the struggle between the Jews and Muslims is a “family matter.” Jews are the beloved children of Islam who have yet to accept the reforms that defined the true religion. We must remember, without Judaism and g-d’s covenant with Israel, there would be no Islam. Christianity is seen as a Hellenistic bastardization of biblical teachings watered down to sell to the pagan Roman empire. You won’t hear it, not publicly, but it is exactly what is taught to every student, Jew, Muslim — this is their belief.

Muslims have “jihad” and Jews were chosen by g-d to rule the world. Ninety percent of the most serious accusations each makes of the other are, actually, part of the religion of both, only Jews are much better at public relations. After all, they own 90 percent of the world’s media, print, broadcast, even much of the Internet. How do we trust military leaders who don’t know that “goyim” means “cattle?” If you are “cattle” and you believe those who see you as such are your best friends, you are not dealing with reality. Perhaps we should teach The Scorpion and the Toad at West Point. This should be the start of the first day’s lecture on America’s Strategic Security in the 21st Century:

The scorpion, in the course of a long journey, encounters a river. The scorpion cannot swim and so he is momentarily stymied until he spies the toad, on the opposite river bank. “Toad!” the scorpion calls out, “will you please let me ride on your back to the other side of the river because, you see, I cannot swim.” “No way,” replied the toad, “if I let you ride on my back you will sting me!” To which the scorpion replied, “But if I am riding on your back and I sting you then we will both die because I cannot swim.” After thinking on it for a moment or two the toad agrees, swims over to the opposite bank of the river where the scorpion jumps onto his back and he turns to swim to the other side. When the toad, with the scorpion riding on his back, gets to the middle of the river, the scorpion stings him. “Scorpion!” Exclaimed the toad, “Why did you sting me? Now we both die.”

“Because it is in my nature.” Was the scorpion’s response.

Should we be sick of watching our troops walk through poppy fields, knowing the heroin being produced is destroying the United States, filling our prisons but, at the same time, filling the pockets of, well who? Who is getting a cut of the $65 billion dollars a year earned from the partnership in Afghanistan? Israel is the money end, the CIA does transportation, the Afghan government runs production, but who does distribution? Do the planes really land on military bases? We have already found bales of cash leaving Afghanistan heading for Dubai.

This is only a small part of the money involved. It is this money, combined with the billions we give Israel, the billions they take out of the American economy through control of the Federal Reserve System (a quasi-governmental scheme of banks with Rothschild lineage that control America) that makes it impossible to get honest news, elect honest politicians and even trust our own military.

In fact, a large majority of Americans openly admit, on every opinion poll, that they don’t trust our congress, our president or any American institution. Nobody asks them why. Would they know? Is it because a foreign country controls our banks, our news, our congress, our military, our foreign policy? Is it because the only reason politics exist in America is so the greedy can line up at the trough, not caring who is pouring the slop, as long as they get theirs first?

No American has a clue where President Obama came from. Many believe he is foreign born, many more think he is Muslim and some believe he is a space alien. In 250 years, documents will be declassified that will either prove or disprove that former President Bush belonged in prison, not the White House, guilty of not AWOL (absent without leave) but desertion during wartime. There is no reasonable doubt of his guilt, only that he used his power to prevent arrest and prosecution. After 9/11, no more questions were asked, and no more witnesses had to receive new homes, fat government jobs or have mysterious heart attacks.

For the Bush years, it was made clear that a military career had to be built on loyalty to Israel, even though their nuclear arsenal and their ethnic cleansing of Palestine are the root of every conflict confronting America today. There is no military alliance with Israel. America has no potential enemies. In fact, every nation in the region is either controlled by the United States, occupied or frightened to death. Iran trying to stand against America is the equivalent of Denmark standing against Hitler’s blitzkrieg.

The view of the state of affairs taught our military is childishly stupid. How many of our military leaders are childishly stupid also?

August 26, 2010
Gerald Celente
Trends Research Institute

KINGSTON, NY, 26 August 2010 — Following the “Panic of ’08” and the subsequent “Great Recession,” Washington, Wall Street and the media united to promote the belief that extreme crisis management measures enacted by governments had rescued the world, and staved off even worse disaster.

“Recovery” was in the air. “Recovery” was the word on the public’s lips. “Recovery” was fervently preached and endlessly pitched.

A very few argued that the measures could not work; that they would not live up to expectations. But only Gerald Celente predicted, from the onset, that they would fail completely, leading to the “Crash of 2010” and an inevitable descent into the “Greatest Depression.”

Now, with the data catching up to Celente and the economic skies falling, the “Recovery Hawks” have turned “Chicken Little.”

Celente plotted out the collision course and provided strategies for both steering clear of the dead end “Road to Recovery” and following roads less traveled that would lead to safety and success.

As every driver knows, in the moment before a collision there’s a gap – a split second – between recognition of the crash to come and the impact. In economic terms, that gap was the period between August 2007 (when we pinpointed an imminent financial crisis) and now … August 2010.

Now there is only the “split second.” On the macro-level, and for those who invested everything they had in “Recovery,” there will be no avoiding the “Crash of 2010.” On the individual level, there is still time to take both evasive action and proactive measures.

Be warned! While we see a split second left to take evasive action, some of the biggest names in business still blindly persist in minimizing the danger: Bloomberg, August 25 – “Durable-Goods Orders, Home Sales Signal Danger of Renewed U.S. Recession.” Even Nouriel Roubini, the media’s pet pessimist, put the odds of renewed recession at only 40 percent.

“Renewed recession”? Odds of recession? It’s bogus bookmaking – odds spun out of thin air and fobbed off as economics. The “Great Recession” never ended! The $13 trillion lent, spent and guaranteed by Washington and the Federal Reserve didn’t put an end to the recession, it just put it into a brief remission.

And what about the Dow that’s rebounded from its 2009 low of 6,830 and currently trades around 10,000? Touted as a recovery bellwether, in reality, the Dow was trading at 10,000 in 1999. Moreover, when adjusted for inflation, Dow 10,000 of 2010 is really the equivalent of only Dow 8,200 in 1999.

But Wall Street and the media do an excellent job of concealing such facts from the public. In their perpetually sunny financial skies, it is always, always, always a “buying opportunity.”

As Gerald Celente and The Trends Research Institute have been saying all along: insiders aside, investing in the stock market is a loser’s game. Just to get back to its 1999 level in real, inflation-adjusted terms, the Dow would have to hit 13,460.

What was not a loser’s game was gold. Trading at a $255 per ounce low in 1999, it trades at $1240 today. That is close to a 500 percent gross increase. Adjusted for inflation using the same rate applied to the Dow above, gold is currently worth around $880 in 1999 dollars… and heading higher.

We called the beginning of the “Gold Bull Run” in 2001, when gold was at $275 per ounce. The next breakout point for gold is $1300. From that point forward, depending upon which of a handful of wildcards get played, we forecast “Gold $2000” – and possibly higher.

Whatever your investment strategy may be, proactive measures taken now will minimize the impact of the “Crash of 2010” that, by the New Year, will be unmistakable and undeniable. Rather than debating the probabilities of a double-dip recession, the business media will be glomming onto the financial body counts littering Wall Street as though it were another Katrina.

Last December, I published a major article ( *****2010 Food Crisis for Dummies***** ) explaining why the world was heading towards a major food crisis in 2010.Well, the 2010 Food Crisis IS HERE!

Shortages have driven up prices and we are now entering the next stage of the food crisis. Some of my long time readers will remember my March follow-up entry ( *****2010 Food Crisis Taking Shape***** ) in which I laid out the three stage of the food crisis.

… What is going to happen next is simple:

A) Prices will rise driven by growing shortages.
B) The fear of price collapse in soybeans will fade away and doubts about the USDA will grow (ie: “if the USDA’s numbers are right, why are prices still going up?”). As end-users try to get out of their underbought and oversold positions, the price rises will accelerate.
C) Panic explodes as faith in USDA numbers collapse. Everyone becomes a spot buyer.

Stage A of the food crisis (shortage-driven price spike) has occurred. Now we are entering stage B (confusion, growing doubts in government estimates, accelerating price rises). This is confirmed by Kory Melby, who asks the question I have been waiting for: Where Are the Soybeans?

Cash soybean bids remain firm in the interior of Brazil.

Soybean crushers do not have enough soybeans to make it until November.
Soybean crushers are bidding a negative margin to secure cash soybeans.

By Linda H. Smith

“We have exciting stuff happening in grains,” says Jerry Gulke of the Gulke Group. “You almost have to see it on paper to believe it. I don’t remember when I’ve seen all commodities look this bullish at once.”

Gulke learned long ago that you can’t argue with the technicals—the charts often tell you something is going on in the markets that you can’t readily appreciate in the fundamentals. The charts for wheat, corn, soybeans, bean oil and maybe bean meal all are now long on both a weekly and monthly basis, he says. “This generally means we will see an upward bias for the next 12 to 18 months.”

“It could be we are in about the same situation we were in 2008,” says Gulke. “Now, we need something catastrophic to happen to not be in a bull market.”

Wheat prices end July with huge monthly gain
By TALI ARBEL (AP) – July 30, 2010

NEW YORK — Wheat prices surged in July by the biggest amount in more than a half century as severe drought conditions in Russia and other former Soviet republics destroyed grain crops.

If the gains continue, U.S. shoppers could see a bump up in prices of cereals, breads and pastas made with wheat. American wheat farmers, meanwhile, are going to get a boost in income, said Scott Irwin, professor of agriculture at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.

Wheat prices have risen $1.97 a bushel, or 42 percent, this month and are at their highest level since September 2008. Its the biggest gain for wheat contracts according to records dating back to 1959, according to the Chicago Board of Trade.

With no immediate end in sight for the drought in Russia, wheat prices could continue to rally. That makes it more likely that the surging wheat could wind up affecting prices for bread, said Ephraim Leibtag, an economist with the USDA’s Economic Research Service.

The lack of rain and extreme heat in Russia has already destroyed about 20 percent of the country’s grain crop in key growing regions, according to Russian officials. Russia is a major exporter, but analysts say there are rumors that the country may cut off its exports, boosting demand for the remaining grain stocks in the U.S. and other major grains producers.

Droughts are also afflicting Kazakhstan and parts of Ukraine, while heavy rains have damaged the Canadian wheat crop. The Canadian Wheat Board estimated that the 2010-11 yield would be the lowest since 2002because about 13 million acres were either left unseeded or destroyed by heavy rains.

Expectations for a global wheat crop smaller than last year’s helped propel prices for wheat up by 5.4 percent on Friday alone. September wheat rose 34 cents to settle at $6.615 a bushel.
…
“Undoubtedly this will be good news in Nebraska, out there in the West, on the Great Plains,” Irwin said. If farmers switch acreage from soybeans and corn to wheat, that could also drive an increase in the price of those commodities as supply shrinks, ultimately leading to higher meat prices for livestock producers and shoppers, he said.
…

Below is the latest from Nogger. (Again, visit Nogger’s blog to keep up to date about the 2010 food crisis. It has great coverage of everything agriculture.)

Hamburg-based Toepfer have reduced their German crop production estimates quite sharply from last month saying that the cold winter delayed crop maturity. In addition “dry conditions in the last six weeks and the extremely high daytime temperatures have affected the yield potential of crops in many places,” they add.
Ukraine To Import Wheat In 2010/11?

Reports suggest that Ukraine will only manage to harvest “a maximum” of 8 MMT of milling wheat this year, well below domestic consumption of 11-12 MMT.

Having aggressively marketed and exported wheat of all grades throughout 2009/10 it will come as no surprise to hear that official records of milling wheat ending stocks from last season appear to have got lost in the post.

One report I am reading suggests that the cash-strapped Ukraine’s already have commitments to export 3 MMT of milling wheat this season.

The maths on this one certainly don’t add up. Even is this week’s hastily introduced new regulations on exports effectively bars this 3 MMT from leaving Ukraine will clearly run out of milling wheat by spring.

The country is estimated to produce 38-40 MMT of grains this year, down 13-17% from last season’s 46 MMT. …

The senile old duffers at the IGC have revised yesterday’s export numbers before the ink has even had time to dry.

They’ve just heard that there’s a drought going on in Russia, which they seem to think might have a negative import on exports out of the region this year.

They didn’t hear about the drought until today as the regular carrier pigeon they usually use is on holiday, and they’ve got a student in to cover for him.

Wheat prices hit their highest for nigh on two years in Europe, and rose above \$6 a bushel in Chicago, after farmers reported fears of yield losses of up to 20% in Germany because of dry weather.

Farming association Deutschen Bauernverbandes, or DBV, said thatwheat yields in the European Union’s second-ranked producer of the grain would be “10-20% down on the year”.

Initial harvest results had shown signs of crop damage and lower yields, notably in areas with lighter soils, where the impact of this year’s prolonged dry weather had been particularly severe.

While the DBV did not make a production estimate, the decline implied by the data is greater than many of the forecasts so far being factored in. FO Licht analysts earlier this month estimated the German wheat crop at 24.86m tonnes, only 300,000 tonnes lower than last year’s.

Argentine wheat joins list plagued by dry weather
By Agrimoney.com – Published 26/07/2010

Argentina has emerged as the latest country to face potential setbacks over wheat, with adverse weather threatening its recovery from a century-low in plantings.

“A new concern is bubbling up in Argentina. It is dry,” US broker US Commodities said, noting that 79% of the South American country’s intended wheat acreage had been planted as of last week. Typically, farmers have all but finished sowings by now.

The concerns were echoed by Rabobank analysts, who warned of a “great deal of uncertainty” regarding Argentina’s wheat crop, South America’s biggest, and one typically drawn on by regional importers such as Brazil.

“Dry conditions in some areas of the country, especially in the south and west of the wheat region, might prevent planting intentions from being fully realised,” the bank said.

Dry weather has already cut hopes for crops in the European Union, Western Australia and, in particular, Kazakhstan and Russia, sending wheat prices jumping on international markets.
…
More hot weather

… Russia and Kazakhstan, and potentially eastern Ukraine, are set for further hot and dry weather, with some areas forecast to receive temperatures of up to 108 degrees Fahrenheit (42 degrees Celsius).

“The forecast for the week does not remain optimistic… with a further rise of expected temperatures,” Agritel, the Paris-based consultancy, said, adding that temperatures in Russia had hit record highs on Saturday.
…

Benzinga reports that problems in grain producing regions.

… Corn/Wheat/ Soybeans are all trading significantly higher as the drought conditions in southern Russia continue and with little if any prospects of relief in the very near future. Summer crops require rain however, in Russia’s case, and in the case of Kazakhstan and the Ukraine the lack of grain during July has put the summer grain crops there in very real danger.

China and Canada have a very different problem which is the exact opposite of drought, these two countries have suffered heavy rains in the grain producing regions, which has limited farmer activity or has devastated what was planted. The strange weather patterns have succeeded in tightening world grain supplies. The grain market bears argue that there is a vast supply enough in fact to meet global demand and they are correct, for now. As long as there are no other problems regarding logistics, the industrialised world and I include the 2nd tier nations in this, will be able to feed themselves. There will not be a famine [Talk of famine means that stage C of the 2010 food crisis (Panic) is growing nearer]. However the important point I wish to make is thatthese reserves will be drawn down, taking the world into 2011 with limited grain reserves and high and rising prices. …

Abnormal US Weather Continues in 2010

In 2009, Farmers experienced the worst weather “Ever Seen” (see *****Worst Harvest Season Ever Seen***** ). The worst weather “Ever Seen” means exactly what it sounds like: the worst in living memory or recorded history. Reading about the 2009/10 harvest was a long series of horror stories. Farmers saw the worst drought ever seen, the most rain ever seen, the worst hail ever seen, the worst flooding ever seen, the earliest snow ever seen, etc…

Well, 2009’s abnormal weather continues in 2010. Bloomberg reports about the weather threat to U.S. crops.

In the Midwest, the main U.S. growing region, the total rainfall during the past two months was probably the highest since 1960, after as much as 6 inches (15 centimeters) of rain moved east from South Dakota to Illinois in the past 24 hours, said Mike Tannura, the president of T-Storm Weather in Chicago.

Nearly six weeks ago, lush fields of corn and soybeans across four Nebraska counties were reduced to dying stalks and shoots in a matter of minutes.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farm Service Agency,125,000 acres of crops were destroyed during the June 20 hail stormacross areas of Gage, Lancaster, Johnson and Pawnee Counties.
…
Harms watched his maturing corn crop be destroyed by golf ball and tennis ball-sized hail from his home on June 20.

He, like most other farmers, remarked that he had never seen anything like it as entire fields were destroyed, some with little evidence of a crop left behind.
…
Hasenkamp said the Gage County area has had yearly experience with severe hail damage to crops over the past four to five years.

“I’d say we’re more educated on what to expect because of our experience with it,” Hasenkamp said. “But this is by far the worst I’ve ever seen in my lifetime.”

Rapid City Journal reports about the worst grasshopper infestation ever seen.

Every morning Doug Hlavka surveys the damage that a newly hatchedplague of grasshoppers has set upon his cornfield and pastures.

“This is the worst infestation that I’ve ever seen,” Hlavka said.
…
Hlavka, 56, noticed the first hatchings about two weeks ago. The hoppers quickly moved into his pastures and fields to begin their ravenous work, he said.

“I lost 40 acres of alfalfa that I didn’t cut. I had 80 acres of corn that they’re eating up real fast. I’ve sprayed around its edges, but I’m waiting for an airplane to spray it,” he said.

His wife, Val, lost her flower and vegetable gardens to the insects. He estimates that in certain areas on his ranch, there are 30 grasshoppers resting on each square foot of land. They have covered the sides of his home, outbuildings and fence posts.

“My mother’s 84, and she says they’re the worst she’s ever seen,” Hlavka said.

The balance of power is shifting to exporters

Agrimoney reports that the balance of power is shifting to exporters.

Opinion: Egypt’s tiny wheat reversal is a big deal
23:37 GMT, Wednesday, 28th July 2010, by Agrimoney.com

The wheat market just crossed a rubicon.

Ever since the grain’s last rally petered out two years ago, weakened by a bumper crop and global recession, importers have held all the cards. It is less than two months Chicago wheat slipped below $4.30 a bushel, nearly its lowest for three years, as buyers sat on their hands.

Egypt’s relaxtion of import rules only introduced last year shows that the balance of power has shifted a long way back to exporters.

Allowing France to ship in 30,000-tonne volumes rather than the 60,000-tonne panamax standard is a more significant reversal than it first appears.

Why the concession?

…
What Cairo’s move does show is that it wants to make life easier for France’s merchants.

And that’s quite a shift for a buyer which focused, as importers’ power grew, very much on getting value for money.
…

…it doesn’t look like Egypt is taking any chances with its supplies. And if the world’s biggest wheat buyer is hedging its bets, the rest of the market should take note.

Soybean Rally Surprises World

Commodity Online reports that soybean overcomes bearish trend.

Soybean overcomes bearish trend
Published on July 30, 2010 16:10:00 IST

After witnessing a long bearish phase, finally soybean prices recovered during July month. NCDEX futures market prices increased nearly 8.1 % during this period.

In fact, till last month, it was the general opinion that world oilseeds market would witness further fall in prices due to comfortable supply as Brazil, Argentina and US which are the major soybean producers harvested a bumper crop this year.
…

Cash Premiums Driving Soybean Market Higher

Premiums in the cash market are forcing soybean futures higher. Despite prices jumping to a six-month high, the premium for soybeans delivered in August is still 74 cents to 75 cents a bushel above August futures on the Chicago Board of Trade. Basically, while August Soybean futures have rallied to $10.53 per bushel, the real, cash price of soybeans is 74 cents higher at $11.27 per bushel.

USDA reports the Gulf Export basis for grain.

Dec= 10.7900 – 10.8000 no comp +74 X to +75 X no comp

This intense backwardation (where cash prices are higher than futures) is evidence of shortages and is the driving force behind the grain rally.

What Happens Next

Things are getting really interesting in agricultural markets. As for what happens next, I will point to my first entry on Soybean Overconsumption:

What this means

The soybean prices are going way up. How high they go depends on how long the current overconsumption lasts. In other words, right now it would take a 50 to 80 percent rise in prices to ration demand until next harvest. However, with two or three months more of the current overconsumption [TOO LATE], soybeans prices will have to double or triple to ration demand.

Watch for the USDA’s Madoff Moment

As his ponzi scheme collapsed due to withdrawal requests, Madoff had to face reality and shocked the world by admitting the truth. Investors who believed they owned billions found they had a little over 100 million to divide among themselves. The USDA, in the next [month] three to four months, will also have to face the reality and admit that the world is missing ten to twenty million metric tons of soybeans. The news should be as well received as Madoff’s announcement.

CLIMATE scientists have warned that 2010 could turn out to be the warmest year in recorded history.

They have collated global surface temperature measurements showing that the world has experienced near-record highs between January and April.

Researchers working independently at the Met Office and Nasa are soon to publish data that reveal the trend is likely to continue for the rest of the year.

James Hansen, director of Nasa’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies (Giss), a world centre for climate monitoring, said: “Global temperatures, averaged over the past 12 months, were the warmest for 130 years.

“December to February was also the second-warmest of any such period.”

Vicky Pope, head of climate change advice at the Met Office, said: “It was a cold winter in Europe but, globally, January to March was one of the seven warmest starts to the year on record.

“This year has more than a 50% chance of being the warmest on record.”

The average global surface temperature is based on measurements taken from thousands of monitoring stations and satellites. These measurements are collated and independently analysed by the Met Office, Giss and at the National Climatic Data Center in North Carolina.

The Giss record shows that from January to April this year the global temperature was elevated by an average of 0.75C, compared with benchmark temperatures.

Climate change was not the only suspected cause.

“I do not eat corporate food and I do not buy Made in China ” says Gerald Celente …If Israel and The US attack Iran it is the start of World War III , Iran is not Iraq… the top trends for 2010 are the crash of 2010 and terrorism 2010 , the anti Americanism is sweeping the glob is a big concern says Gerald Celente

Trends Expert Gerald Celente is also known as Dr Doom and the Nostradamus of Modern Times , Gerald Celente is regarded as one of the foremost trend predictors in the world. This author of Trends 2000 and Trend Tracking, and publisher of The Trends Journal, is frequently a guest on television news and talk show programs. The New York Post said “if Nostradamus were alive today, he’d have a hard time keeping up with Gerald Celente.” Subscribe to the Trends Journal >>>

Following are Gerald Celente’s Forecasts for 2010: · The Crash of 2010: The Bailout Bubble is about to burst. Be prepared for the onset of the Greatest Depression. · Depression Uplift: The pursuit of elegance and affordable sophistication will raise spirits and profits. · Terrorism 2010: Years of war in Afghanistan and Iraq and now Pakistan have intensified anti-American sentiment. 2010 will be the year of the lone-wolf, self-radicalized gunman. · Neo-Survivalism: A new breed of survivalist is devising ingenious stratagems to beat the crumbling system. And, they’re not all heading for the hills with AK-47’s and pork & beans. · Not Welcome Here: Fueled by fear and resentment, a global anti-immigration trend will gather force and serve as a major plank in building a new political party in the US. · TB or Not TB: With two-thirds of Americans Too Big (TB) for their own good (and everyone else’s), 2010 will mark the outbreak of a “War on Fat,” providing a ton of business opportunities. · Mothers of Invention: Taking off with the speed of the Internet revolution, “Technology for the Poor” will be a major trend in 2010, providing products and services for newly downscaled Western consumers and impoverished consumers everywhere. · Not Made In China: A “Buy Local,” “My Country First” protectionist backlash will deliver a big “No” to unrestrained globalism and open solid niches for local and domestic manufacturers. · The Next Big Thing: Just as the traditional print media (newspapers/magazines) were scooped by Internet competition, so too will new communication technologies herald the end of the TV networks as we know them.
