Press TV – Spaniards remain camped out at Madrid’s main square, despite tight security, to protest against the government’s austerity measures and growing unemployment rate.

Thousands of angry protesters have packed the capital’s Puerta Del Sol square, since the protests began two weeks ago, and promised to stay out in makeshift tents until Sunday, a Press TV correspondent reported on Sunday.

The leading protest group known as “the indignants” once again took to Madrid’s main square to decide whether to carry on a vigil, AFP reported.

In Barcelona, fresh clashes erupted between protesters and police amid a mass celebration following Barcelona’s Champions League 3-1 win against Manchester United.

On Friday, similar clashes in Spain’s second-largest city left over a hundred protesters wounded after police ordered them to move their tents out of Catalonia Square.

Jorge Naroja, a spokesman for the “Democracia Real Ya” (Real Democracy Now) compared protests in Spain with the anti-government movements in the Middle East and North Africa, saying what they have in common is protesters’ courage and their determination to fight corrupt politicians and dictators.

The protests in Spain are inspired by the recent revolutions in Tunisia and Egypt as pas part of the Islamic Awakening that has been sweeping across the Middle East and North Africa.

Spain has been witnessing demonstrations against the government’s austerity measures since mid-May.

The massive protests came after the government of Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodrigues Zapatero introduced a slew of drastic austerity measures.

The measures include the cutting of civil servant wages, as part of its plans to curb the budget deficit from 11 percent a year earlier to within three percent of the GDP, a limit set by the European Union by 2013.

The Madrid City Council has agreed to name a street in the Spanish capital “Palestine” in a show of support to Palestinians, whose lands have been taken by Israel by force.

The decision came after hundreds of Muslim citizens called on the City Council for a street in Madrid to be named after Palestine.

Reports say efforts are underway to rename other public places in Spain to support Palestinians.

Dec. 9 (Bloomberg) — Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero said he’ll use all tools at his disposal to fight future strikes after declaring a state of emergency to break a walkout by air-traffic controllers.

The government “won’t hesitate” to use “all the instruments of the rule of law to avoid or put an end to situations like those we saw last weekend,” he told parliament in Madrid today in a session to explain the steps taken by the government to break the wildcat strike. The government “intends to maintain or if necessary seek an extension of the state of emergency,” depending on the situation, he said.

The Socialist premier, facing his lowest poll ratings since coming to power in 2004, declared a state of emergency on Dec. 4 and put air traffic under military control to end the walkout during a holiday weekend. The strike followed government plans to partly privatize the airport operator as part of budget- cutting measures aimed at stemming the sovereign-debt crisis.

Israel and its allegedly American cheerleaders are desperate to attack Iran ASAP, while Pentagon hawks are yearning to escalate the war in Afghanistan. In other words, the folks who brought us 9/11 and the 9/11 wars want a momentous escalation of those wars. And they want it NOW.

But the American people aren’t on board. Polls show that the war on Afghanistan is more unpopular than ever. And the level of destruction unleashed by a Zio-American attack on Iran would make our current economic chaos look like the Golden Age.

To get people to accept this kind of massive escalation, another major false-flag event demonizing Muslims, and thereby legitimizing escalations against the Taliban and the Islamic Republic of Iran, may be in the works.

The Ft. Hood probable false-flag attack (see Jerry Mazza’s article) seems to have been timed to coincide with the decision to try (the individual claimed to be) Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the 9/11 patsy-in-chief. All of this appears to have been orchestrated to evoke memories of 9/11 and reinforce the official story–a necessary preliminary to any 911-2B. In other words, they may be softening us up for something big.

Remember folks, what we’re dealing with here is a war on Islam and Muslims launched and sustained by a whole series of false-flag events, not just 9/11-anthrax but also the attacks on Bali, Madrid, London, Mumbai, and now (apparently) Ft. Hood. There is no reason to think these people are going to stop any time soon.
